Accountancy and Finance

Understanding how organisations are financed and effectively managed is at the core of our degrees. Accountants are needed throughout the private, public and voluntary sectors, so whatever the economic climate, great job opportunities are within the grasp of our well qualified graduates.

We take our role in educating the next generation of financial professionals seriously. That’s why we provide you with access to experts from leading accounting firms. As a student at Huddersfield you'll work directly with one of the world’s leading firms, PricewaterhouseCoopers, who run an annual competition for our first year students, giving you quality feedback from top professionals. You'll also pick up valuable tips on how to improve your job opportunities direct from global accounting firm KPMG. These are just two of the nine leading international, national and local accounting firms who have signed up to our innovative Partners in Accountancy scheme, helping to build your academic learning, professional knowledge and graduate job prospects.

Giving you another headstart in your career, our courses provide a wide range of professional exemptions for all the main accountancy bodies, including the Association of International Accountants (AIA), Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA).

We'll also encourage and support you to do a one-year paid work placement, so that when you graduate your CV will show not only academic and professional skills but also real-world experience and professional development.
