This is an exciting Master’s programme, designed to meet the needs of those who wish to develop the cutting edge business skills needed by the aspiring, professional manager. This qualification is of real value to employers and is an ideal preparation if you are looking to move into senior management positions in the future.

The course is designed for graduates or equivalent who may not have previously studied business or management and is ideal if you lack the necessary depth of work experience for admission to the Master of Business Administration (MBA)

Our students come from a wide range of first degree subjects, and from many different nations giving a richness and breadth of perspectives to the course. The course is designed to equip you with a business ‘tool-kit’ which increases your awareness and confidence when dealing with business issues. Emphasis is placed on developing critical thinking and the application of current best practice to real-world situations within demanding frameworks, in order to prepare tomorrow’s managers for the challenges of the 21st Century.

English Language Requirements:

Students who are nationals of a majority English-speaking country may be accepted without an English qualification if during the application process it has been demonstrated that you are able to understand written and spoken English to the required level.

*Canadian nationals are exempt from English Language requirements, but non-Canadian nationals who have studied in Canada are required to meet standard English Language requirements due to Home Office policy.

If you reside in one of these countries, you are not required to submit evidence of English language proficiency if you:

  • Have undertaken a full degree in one of these countries and completed it no more than two years before the intended start of your chosen undergraduate programme.
  • The degree certificate is successfully verified with the issuing body on receipt. Any applicant found to have submitted a fraudulent score will have their application withdrawn.

What test scores do I need?

IELTS (Academic) 6.5 (or equivalent).

Entry Requirements:

The normal entry requirements are:

•  A good first degree in any subject or equivalent.
•  Other professional qualifications considered on a case-by-case basis. You will be given the opportunity to capitalise on previous experience and learning through the University’s APLA and APEL accredited schemes.
•  Practicing managers with relevant experience and academic potential will be considered on an exceptional basis.

International applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in English language. You will normally be required to meet a score of 6.0 on International English Language Tests.

We encourage applicants to commit to contributing to the programme and broaden their own understanding and that of others on the course.

Pre-Sessional English Programmes:

There is no need to worry if you don’t quite meet our English language entry requirements – most of university have a range of Pre-Sessional English programmes (PSPs) that can help you to reach the standard set out in your offer letter, or join the University Foundation courses.

Please note that the length of the course you are advised to take will depend on the grades achieved in individual test components (Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking).  If your offer states that you require above IELTS 6.0 (or equivalent), please contact the UKOAS for guidance.
